The 2010 Rochesterfest Treasure has been found!

After researching both the online clue and the bonus Trade Mart clue, and with a little luck and intensive searching, the Treasure was found at George W. Gibbs, Jr., Elementary School in Northwest Rochester.

The lucky finder of this year's Treasure was Sue Warndahl of Rochester, who will receive $500! The 2010 Treasure Hunt is sponsored by Trade Mart, The Furniture Center! One additional, bonus clue was available at
Trade Mart Furniture Center, 3050 7th Street NW Rochester, MN.

Below are the clues and what each element meant:

Twenty-Ten [ not meant as a clue, but the Treasure was hidden between doors number 19 & number 20 at George W. Gibbs, Jr., Elementary School ] to Enjoy! It’s our annual ploy with your chance to become slightly richer!
Move about, eat and drinks, but stay off of those links! [ a fun reference to the fact that the Treasure is never on a Rochester golf course. ] This honored place [ the elementary school was named to honor George W. Gibbs, Jr. ] won’t need a pitcher. [ hidden on the opposite side to baseball diamonds. ]
See the sky…see the trail [ near the Douglas Trail ] …blaze that path, [ George Gibbs was a trailblazer, being known as the first black person to visit the Antarctic, per the school web site ] you’ll not fail if considering south [ referencing South Pole, south side of the school ] as your bearing.
For it’s south that revealed where the Treasure’s concealed, [ again, a reference to Mr. Gibbs’ adventure ] but more south of the south if you’re caring. [ south side of the school ]
What fun game [ lots of games at the school ] are we playing? (Was it south that we’re saying?) Is my service [ Mr. Gibbs’ Navy service ] obscuring this parry?
‘Twixt the eagle or hornet, let the stinger adorn it [ Somewhat obscure, but Mr. Gibbs was in the Navy, and Navy jets are known as Hornets, versus Air Force Eagles ] to highlight this slight phalanstery. [ a phalanstery is a small, self-contained community, and the school is a slight, or small, community. ]

As you search ‘cross the lawn, [ hidden near the lawn at the school ] do your best – soldier on! [ a reference to Mr. Gibbs’ service ] If first on the scene [ Mr. Gibbs was first to the Antarctic ] we might tangle. The perimeter’s [ the Treasure was hidden around the perimeter of the school ] safer for this gilded wafer. A circuitous route then an angle. [ the driving entrance on the south side is circular, and the treasure was hidden in the corner/angle. ] The hunt is self-evident near what looks like a president. [ a stone marker has a quote from George Washington Carver ] Old Glory will stand with her guard. [ near the flagpole at the entrance. ] Soon names become clearer, and kepha [ a word that means rock in Aramaic language ] stands nearer. Stay well north of most that is parred. [ most golf courses are south of this location, and this also references the rule to stay off golf courses. ] While the sun sets and rises, there will be no surprises if shadowed the latter am I. [ the location is shaded in the morning, but not in the evening. ] Tread alight where you can, show respect for the man [ a reference to the named school ] and the men with historical tie. [ a reference to Gibbs, Carver, et al. ]
